There’s a new, insta-worthy meeting place on Albert Street, Brisbane and it’s wellness that’s on the menu. On Friday 16th October, we launched our latest retail concept in response to you, our customers’ evolving consumer habits.
Scrolling, browsing and transacting in a retail space that looks and feels just like a social feed and online shopping experience is the inspiration and objective behind our Lorna Jane Shop The Look retail concept.
We know how much you love the presentation of outfitting online, and how you have become accustomed to it, and rightfully so now expect it. We acknowledge that mindless scrolling is not so mindless. Due to the overwhelming amount of content you consume, indecision paralysis is growing. Within the retail shopping experience, it then becomes increasingly challenging for the customer to imagine how garments outfit together when folded on a table or presented on a hanger, a very different experience to the one that’s at their fingertips 24/7.
We, here at Lorna Jane embrace and appreciate that our online platform is a formidable advisory and partner to our retail experience, and Shop The Look is the platform that squeezes that gap. Our new concept Albert Street, Brisbane space is the first of its kind and presents the latest evolution of our Shop The Look concept, one that the brand has been innovating over the past 5 years. The minimalistic, light, bright and spacious layout, with complimentary premium finishes bring hero to the product.
“The best Activewear on the planet deserves a prime location and a premium platform. Albert Street is an iconic addition to our retail portfolio, and I’m so excited that our home-state customer will be the first to experience it,” comments brand founder and Chief Creative Officer, Lorna Jane Clarkson.
The concept store will bring focus on educating our customer on the brand’s sustainability initiatives, including the incorporation of recycled fabrics into our designs, and having implemented a ban on single-use plastic bags. The store will feature our ‘First Wear’ offering; a market-leading initiative where customers are given the option to take home a never before worn piece, where individual garments are presented in sealed compostable bags to ensure their first wear will be the very first.
“Lorna Jane was built on retail, but technology is changing consumer habits. We must listen to what our customer is telling us, evolve, and invest in innovating our retail offering and in new forms of engagement, otherwise why would she choose to shop in store?” Lorna Jane Clarkson

At Lorna Jane we like nothing more then putting on new Activewear - that ultra fresh feeling of wearing something new that's never been worn before. But, have you ever questioned how fresh your Activewear actually is and whether your first wear is THE first wear?
Well, at Lorna Jane we can confidently say you will be the first to wear your Activewear and it's made possible with our ground-breaking First Wear initiative.
The call for untouched Activewear is a growing trend as our communities start to care more about what comes in contact with their bodies; from food, supplements and skincare to now looking at what clothes are made from and how they can affect your skin, you want clear information and trusted options when it comes to your Activewear and we're here to give it to you!
Your skin is your largest organ and one which, through your pores opening to cool you down when sweating, transfers bacteria from your skin to your clothes and in turn, the bacteria on your clothes to your skin. Women are learning how important it is to be protected from potential germs provided through unwashed new clothes and especially those that sit snug against our bodies.
That's why in 2017 we introduced a brand new kind of NEW through our First Wear initiative to ensure that when you pick your purchase, you're receiving clean, fresh, untouched and trusted Activewear, every time.
So, how do we ensure that there's nothing but new in the garment bag? By overhauling our production and logistics practices to deliver the following outcomes, keeping our customer as a top priority:
On top of this, we also send our products directly to stores to further reduce multi-handling and we are transitioning to full use of tamper-proof and non-resealable compostable garment bags by mid-2020.
These processes make our First Wear initiative a new industry benchmark - creating the promise of and delivering the freshest Activewear on the planet.
You deserve the best when it comes to our product, whether shopping in-store or online so we're doing our very best to ensure you receive the best quality, the best fit and the best service, however you choose to shop.
And we want you to know that when you wear Lorna Jane you can do it with confidence knowing that your first wear, is the first wear!.
LJSHIELD is a long-lasting, non-toxic shield that helps protect garments against odour causing bacteria and mould. It is applied as a water-based, non-toxic mist which adheres to the fabric during the manufacturing process.
LJSHIELD is an application applied to the fabric as a light mist that adheres to the surface of the fabric to act as a shield of protection for the garment. LJSHIELD works on contact to reduce bacteria surviving on your garment. International testing facility Intertek, who conducts total quality assurance testing, inspecting, and certification services proved a 99% reduction of bacteria on the fabric tested that used LJSHIELD technology.
Aside from keeping the garment protected against possible bacteria, LJSHIELD is in addition to some of the technical properties that already exist in our garments.
Technology is the future and this is just the beginning for us in developing applications for our fabrics to continue providing our customers with the best Activewear.
The fashion industry has to evolve in order to keep up with these latest trends and developments, which is why it is no longer satisfactory to sell garments that aren’t protected in some way.
We always strive to ensure that our customers and our people have the best possible products and that’s why we will continue to do everything we can to help protect them now and in the future.
